Join this free insightful webinar to gain practical, evidence-informed principles for supporting children and young people after potentially traumatic events

About this training

Join this free insightful webinar to gain practical, evidence-informed principles for supporting children and young people after potentially traumatic events

Following potentially traumatic events, those around children and young people, such as parents, carers, and teachers, are often very concerned to ‘do the right thing’ to reduce the negative impact of the events. But they are also often very worried that they might make things worse. There is a shortage of high-quality research evidence to guide the responses of parents, carers and professionals. This webinar will explain the challenges of completing such research. Drawing heavily on a review article by Stevan Hobfoll and 19 other leading authors, the webinar will describe five evidence-informed principles that can be used to guide the provision of the environment which will maximise the chances of recovery.

The webinar will be presented by David Trickey, Co-Director of the UK Trauma Council. David is a consultant clinical psychologist who, for 25 years, has specialised in working with children, young people and families who have experienced potentially traumatic events. The event will be chaired by Professor Rachel Hiller, Co-Director of the UK Trauma Council.
