Structured Clinical Management CPD Event

Join us for an afternoon workshop led by Professor Anthony Bateman and David Rawlinson, where we will delve into how understanding mentalizing interventions can enhance Structured Clinical Management interventions.

About this event

Mentalizing involves the capacity to interpret behaviour, both one’s own and that of others, as psychologically driven by intentions and underlying mental states. This event will focus on Mentalizing and Structured Clinical Management (SCM).

Join us for an afternoon workshop led by Professor Anthony Bateman and David Rawlinson, where we will delve into how understanding mentalizing interventions can enhance SCM interventions.

This event aims to:

  • provide Continuing Professional Development opportunities for SCM practitioners

  • deliver updates on current practices and advancements in SCM

  • foster connections and build a collaborative network of SCM practitioners.

Who is this event for?

This event is suitable for healthcare professionals working with service users with complex emotional and relational needs.

The problem-solving approach delivered in a curious and validating stance provides the main psychological intervention in SCM programmes. This workshop will discuss similarities and differences between MBT and SCM clinician interventions, and examine whether there is opportunity to transfer skills from a mentalizing perspective.

We will explore Internal Features of MBT, as well as where a mentalizing focus can enhance and support interventions in both group and individual SCM. This workshop helps practitioners develop additional clinical skills to enhance their practice.
