An Introduction to Child and Young Person Crisis Mental Health: For administrative staff
This training is designed for people who work in administrative and business support roles, in teams that work with children and young people in crisis.
About this training
This 2-day training is part of our Children and Young People’s Crisis Training Programme.
This particular training is designed for people who work in administrative and business support roles such as administrators, receptionists, and secretaries, in teams that work with children and young people in crisis.
The training is informed by the principles and practices of AMBIT (Adaptive Mentalization Based Integrative Treatment) and will help participants to develop their confidence and competence in working within crisis contexts. The training has been developed to recognise that this group of staff are often the first line of contact, and therefore play a key role in the journey that children, young people and their families go on to access support. It will be an opportunity to connect and reflect with others doing similar work across the UK and beyond.
AMBIT is listed as an evidence-based approach for urgent and emergency mental health care for children and young people in NHS England’s recent national implementation guidance.
Informed by the principles and practice of AMBIT (Adaptive Mentalization Based Integrative Treatment), this training covers:
understanding of child brain development
the impact of trauma on children and young people
understanding of crisis presentations in children and young people
attending to equality, diversity and inclusion in crisis work
recognising and responding to the emotional impact of working in crisis services
approaches to talking to children, young people and families in crisis and building trust
how to work within complex networks.
Please note: Between 2021 and 2024, this training was commissioned by NHS England for the crisis workforce in England. NHS England funding is not available for the financial year 2024-25.
Who is this training for?
