The Mercers' Wellbeing Evaluation Programme
In collaboration with the University of Manchester and Common Room, we supported the Mercers' Company to monitor and evaluate their provision for pupil mental health and wellbeing within schools and colleges.
The project originally engaged 13 schools and colleges across England from 2016 to 2019. Key elements of the project included the implementation of the Wellbeing Measurement Framework survey across selected year groups, ongoing support and guidance for participating settings to develop local evaluation work, and in-depth evaluation support in relation to specific interventions. We also engaged settings in regular workshops to share national learning about children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing, to explore what sites were learning locally and to improve the ability of settings to evaluate their own provision and make sense of the results.
During the second phase of the project, we expanded our work with schools and colleges to embed routine evaluation and the meaningful use of associated learning to improve services for pupils' and students' mental health and wellbeing.
