Evaluation of parent-infant psychotherapy training and supervision for staff delivering baby groups in Luton
Parent-infant psychotherapy (PIP) is an approach to strengthening the parent-infant relationship. It has a unique reputation for making a real difference to the lives of high-risk parents and babies. The Anna Freud Centre conducted and evaluated a pilot project to provide training and supervision to the early years workforce delivering baby groups at children’s centres in Luton (such as health visitors and children’s centre staff). The training was grounded in the PIP approach and aimed to improve staff understanding of babies’ social and emotional developmental needs and the importance of the parent-infant relationship.
