What or who helps you feel better when you are stressed or upset?

That’s the question our ‘See Us Hear Us’ project posed to more than 70 children and teenagers from across London.

In workshops run by the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families, children and young people worked with professional photographers to produce creative photos showing what cheered them up when they felt down. Their pictures focused on the importance of relationships and support and the comfort that a favourite toy or object can bring, as well as how spending time alone can be valuable. The young people also focused on art and expression and how inspirational messages could help you to feel more positive.

The pictures were on display yesterday at an event aiming to develop the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families' participation work. This project marks the beginning of a discussion with children and young people about how adults can support them better during difficult times. It was run in collaboration with Fitzrovia Youth in Action.
