We were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Camden for her first visit to Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families yesterday.

The new Mayor of Camden, Councillor Nadia Shah, visited the Centre to present certificates to children from the local Holy Trinity School, for their work in supporting and mentoring their fellow pupils this year.

The school’s Rights Respecting Friends Group mentor and support other pupils in the school, helping them out in all manner of ways in the playground, or if someone is looking lost and upset. This event marked the culmination of the school term and the groups work this year as Rights Respecting Friends.

The Mayor said: “I think it’s so important that these young people are learning to look out for one another at such an early age. School is a crucial period when children are developing socially and emotionally, and for some children, it is not always easy. It’s fantastic to know that the Rights Respecting Friends Group is there to support those who may be having a difficult time. It was a pleasure to be part of this ceremony and help recognise the group’s important work this year”.
