Child Attachment and Psychological Therapies Research Unit launched

We’re delighted to announce the launch of ChAPTRe, a new research unit, co-directed by Dr. Nick Midgley and Professor Pasco Fearon. It has been developed as a partnership between the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families and University College London (UCL).

The mission of the research unit is to be a space for developing and promoting research related to children and young people's mental health and emotional well-being. Our particular focus is on understanding children's development (especially in relation to attachment and mentalization) and both evaluating and reaching a better understanding of psychological therapies for children and young people.ChAPTRe is involved in a number of ongoing research studies and also offers training and consultations to those working in this field. We also have limited opportunities to offer academic supervision to high-quality PhD students who wish to study at UCL.If you’d like to contact us, please do so at chaptre@annafreud.org. More details about ChAPTRe, its activities, and the people who are part of it can be found here.
