Application guidance & FAQs

How do I apply for a role?

Click the ‘Register’ button to create an account in our careers portal. Once you’ve registered, you can provide your personal information and complete your application.

You can sign up for job alerts to receive notifications about vacancies that may be of interest (change your preferences at any time using the ‘My account’ section and clicking ‘Account settings’).

Can I apply for more than one role?

Yes, you can. Please submit a separate application for each vacancy and tailor your supporting statement to reflect the criteria listed in the person specification.

You can view the list of your applications and their current status in the ‘Applications’ section.

When will I hear the outcome of my application?

You will receive the outcome of your application by email, by the notification date highlighted on the job advert. We will keep you informed about any delays.

I am trying to submit an application but I am experiencing technical difficulties. What should I do?

Try using a different browser

Some applicants experience technical difficulties when completing our application form using Safari, so we suggest using Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge or Mozilla Firefox.

Check the language settings of your browser

Ensure you’ve selected English (UK) rather than English (US) or any other language. Please refresh your browser after updating your language settings, then try re-entering and saving your entries.

Remove special characters

If you are copying and pasting text into the application form, check you’ve removed any special characters, for example bullet points and symbols, which can cause errors when attempting to save.

Check your character limits

The character (not word) limit for the ‘Supporting statement’ section is 4000, including spaces. Paragraph spacing also counts as one character. If you go over the character limit you will encounter errors when attempting to save.

If you are still experiencing issues after trying these steps, please email recruitment@annafreud.org so we can support you.

I want to apply for the Researcher Internship Scheme: is this advertised on the same careers page?

Yes, we have a limited number of internships available which are advertised on this page.

We advertise our Researcher Internship Scheme every year. Applications usually open at the end of March or the beginning of April and internships run from the end of July to the beginning of October.

We recommend signing up for job alerts to receive notification via email of when applications will open.

I am unsure if I meet the criteria required to apply for the role. Can I speak to the hiring manager to get advice?

To keep our recruitment process as fair and objective as possible, we do not arrange individual phone calls with the manager or the Recruitment Team regarding our vacancies. However, if you have any specific questions regarding the role you are interested in, please email recruitment@annafreud.org and we will be happy to support you.

I don’t have right to work in the UK. Can you provide a sponsorship visa so I can apply for roles at Anna Freud?

Unfortunately, we do not hold a sponsor license therefore you will only be able to apply if you have the right to work in the UK.

If I require a reasonable adjustment during the application process, who do I contact?

Please read our reasonable adjustment commitment page then email recruitment@annafreud.org with your requirements and we will be happy to support you.
