A full day National Autism Trainer Programme (NATP) specialist refresher day focusing on demand avoidance, low arousal and lived experiences. Topics include:
Demand avoidance phenomena: circularity, integrity and validity.
An experience sensitive approach understanding upsetting experiences in autism and ADHD.
A low arousal focus on the reduction of stress, fear and frustration, seeking to prevent aggression and crisis situations.
Lived experiences and professional reflections.
Who is this training for?
Anyone who has completed the four-day NATP training
Anyone currently enrolled on the four-day NATP training
Anyone who intends to enrol on the four-day NATP training in the future
Mental health professionals, across all seven NHS England regions, and other relevant staff, who currently work or may work with diagnosed or undiagnosed autistic people from the following settings:
adult and children and young people inpatient mental health hospitals
adult and CAMHS community mental health settings
residential special schools and colleges
health and justice settings
