A full day National Autism Trainer Programme (NATP) specialist refresher day focusing on demand avoidance, low arousal and lived experiences. Topics include:

  • Demand avoidance phenomena: circularity, integrity and validity.

  • An experience sensitive approach understanding upsetting experiences in autism and ADHD.

  • A low arousal focus on the reduction of stress, fear and frustration, seeking to prevent aggression and crisis situations.

  • Lived experiences and professional reflections.

Who is this training for?

  • Anyone who has completed the four-day NATP training

  • Anyone currently enrolled on the four-day NATP training

  • Anyone who intends to enrol on the four-day NATP training in the future

  • Mental health professionals, across all seven NHS England regions, and other relevant staff, who currently work or may work with diagnosed or undiagnosed autistic people from the following settings:

    • adult and children and young people inpatient mental health hospitals

    • adult and CAMHS community mental health settings

    • residential special schools and colleges

    • health and justice settings
