Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families attends Camden Mela
Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families yesterday attended its first Camden Mela, a free community festival in Camden celebrating the borough’s diversity.</h3>
As part of our partnership with the new Mayor of Camden, Councillor Nadia Shah, who selected the Centre as her Charity of the Year in May, we hosted a stall at the Mela, offering information and advice to the local community and providing fun activities for children and families to get involved.
The activities included our SmartGym activity, FitLights, which aims to help children and young people who are struggling with behavioural and emotional issues, to improve their focus and concentration in class.
Children and young people also took part in our artwork activity, creating their own colourful versions of our logo.
The Centre’s Participation Officer, Nicholas Morgan, said:
"It's really important to be taking part in events like this, not only to raise awareness in the community about children and families' mental health, but also to raise the profile of participation from the general public, to ensure that services are developed to suit everyone’s differing needs.”
The Mayor of Camden will be promoting and raising funds for the Centre’s work throughout the next year. You can support her fundraising for the Centre here: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/CamdenMayorNadiaShah
